A Mounjaro doctor for Rehab residents: where to start
If you live in Rehab and are looking for a Mounjaro doctor, the first question is not who is the best doctor but who will assess you medically and follow you after the first injection. Mounjaro's active ingredient is tirzepatide, and it is a prescription medicine written after your case is assessed, not a product to buy without a visit [1, 3].
At La Rose, Dr Shimaa Fouad sees patients at the Fifth Settlement branch on Wednesdays only, from 3:30 to 8 pm. The branch is in CMC Medical Mall, and Rehab is reachable from it, so the distance should not stop you if you plan your day. The medicine is prescribed after the consultation when it is suitable for you, and you buy it with a prescription from a licensed pharmacy.
This article is written for Rehab residents in particular: how to get the most from one visit a week, what can happen between visits through WhatsApp and online nutrition follow-up, and how to carry and store the pen on the way. There are no doses or prices here, because the dose is the doctor's decision alone, and the consultation cost is given on WhatsApp before you book [2, 10].
Who can discuss Mounjaro, and who needs another route
In Europe, Mounjaro for weight management is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity, in adults with a body mass index of 30 or more, or 27 to under 30 with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure or diabetes [1]. That means the injection is one part of a plan, not a replacement for it.
Some people should avoid it or talk to the doctor first: anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2 syndrome, because the label carries a warning about thyroid tumours [2, 3, 10]. Anyone who currently has or previously had acute pancreatitis, or is allergic to tirzepatide, is not a candidate, and pregnancy, planned pregnancy or breastfeeding calls for an entirely different decision [10, 11].
That is why the first visit does not start with an injection. The doctor asks about your medical history and the medicines you take, especially diabetes medicines, and checks whether medicine, or food and activity changes alone, suit you better. If you are not a candidate, that is a sound outcome, not a loss.
What the trials show, and what they do not
In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of adults with obesity and without diabetes, average weight loss at 72 weeks was roughly 15% to 21% of body weight depending on the dose, against about 3% with placebo [6]. In SURMOUNT-2, in people with type 2 diabetes, the loss was smaller, roughly 13% to 15%, against about 3% [7]. These are averages, so some people lost more and some less.
An important point from SURMOUNT-4: people who continued tirzepatide kept their weight off or lost more, while those switched to placebo regained a clear amount [9]. That means stopping the medicine on your own can bring weight back, and any change or stop needs to be planned with the doctor [9, 10].
These trials do not promise a result for you, and they do not apply to products of unknown source. Real-life pace varies from person to person, and our article on expected results covers that in detail. The ADA 2026 Standards of Care include a full chapter on obesity and weight management, which reflects that medicine sits inside a follow-up programme rather than standing alone [8]. For more on this, see our guide on Mounjaro: expected results and timeline.
The Wednesday visit: how to get the most from it
The branch is open on Wednesday from 3:30 to 8 pm, so the visit is your weekly in-person opportunity. What works in person and not remotely is the measurements and examination: weight, circumference, a body-composition reading with the InBody device, and a review of the lab results you bring. InBody is useful for seeing whether the loss is coming from fat or muscle, because the scale alone cannot tell [8].
Prepare before you come: a list of medicines and supplements, your latest labs if available, and notes on your eating and any symptoms since the last visit. Write your questions down on paper or your phone, because most people forget half of them inside the clinic.
If you have not decided yet, do not rush. The doctor will explain the difference between starting a medicine and starting with a food plan only, and will agree with you on when the next review is. By the end of the visit it should be clear what to do and which sign should make you get in touch before next Wednesday [10, 11].
Between visits: WhatsApp and online nutrition
The Wednesday clinic runs once a week, so the other days need a way of staying in touch. What is actually available is contact with the team on WhatsApp and by phone on 010 4066 1893 to confirm a booking or ask about timing, plus the online nutrition follow-up page on the La Rose site if you want help reviewing food, fluids and carrying out the plan.
Online follow-up suits reviewing food, fluids, adherence and general questions that come up after the visit. It is not a substitute for an in-person examination, and it is not for severe cases. Symptoms such as severe, persistent abdominal pain, repeated vomiting or signs of dehydration need prompt medical assessment, not a WhatsApp message [10, 11].
A practical tip: before each visit, note three things from the past week: which foods were hard, what symptoms appeared and when, and roughly how many cups of fluid you drink. This saves visit time and makes decisions more accurate. Even in the trials, the medicine was paired with a reduced-calorie diet and activity, not used alone [1, 8]. For more on this, see our guide on Clinical nutrition doctor for Rehab residents.
Carrying the pen home from Rehab: heat and timing
After you buy the pen from a licensed pharmacy with a prescription, the trip from the pharmacy to your home is the weakest link, especially in an Egyptian summer. The basics from the manufacturer's label: an unused pen is kept in the refrigerator between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius, is never frozen, and is best left in its original carton away from light [2, 3].
The label allows a single-dose pen to stay outside the refrigerator at no more than 30 degrees Celsius for a total of up to 21 days, but that does not mean leaving it in a closed car or a bag in the sun [2, 3]. A summer car easily passes that limit. Carry the pen in a small insulated bag, without ice directly against it, and put it in the refrigerator as soon as you arrive.
If the pen froze, was exposed to higher heat, or you are unsure of its condition, do not use it, and ask the pharmacist or the doctor. Pen preparation, injection steps and changing the injection day are covered in our dedicated article, so we do not repeat them here. And never buy a pen from an unknown or unlicensed source [2, 3]. For more on this, see our guide on Mounjaro pen: use, storage and missed dose.
Common side effects and warning signs
The most common side effects with tirzepatide are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation, stomach pain and tiredness, and most are mild and improve with time [10, 11]. Drinking enough fluids and eating smaller meals helps a lot, and the doctor explains this at the visit.
Some signs do not wait for Wednesday: severe belly or back pain that does not go away may point to pancreatitis, severe pain in the upper right abdomen may point to a gallbladder problem, swelling of the face or throat or trouble breathing is an allergic reaction, and persistent vomiting or diarrhoea with dizziness and strong thirst means dehydration [10, 11]. In these cases go to the nearest emergency department or call an ambulance, and do not drive yourself if the pain is severe.
One more caution: if you take diabetes medicines, your blood sugar may fall lower, so the doctor reviews your medicines with you. Never stop or change any medicine on your own without going back to the doctor [1, 11]. For more on this, see our guide on Serious side effects and red flags.
Before you decide: questions for any clinic
The first option we suggest is La Rose in Fifth Settlement, because it is reachable from Rehab and has a doctor in clinical nutrition and weight management who follows the case. But whichever clinic you choose, ask it the same questions.
First: is there an examination and medical history before any prescription? A clinic that prescribes without asking about your conditions and medicines is not safe [10]. Second: does the doctor explain side effects and warning signs? Third: is there a food, activity and follow-up plan after the injection? Because the medicine is used alongside a diet and activity [1, 8]. Fourth: is there a clear review date, and how do you reach the clinic between appointments? Fifth: do you buy from a licensed pharmacy with a prescription, rather than from an advert or a group?
If you want a wider comparison using criteria for choosing a doctor across New Cairo, there is a full article on that. And do not compare on adverts or photos, compare on examination and follow-up [10]. For more on this, see our guide on Choosing a Mounjaro doctor in New Cairo.
Getting there from Rehab and booking at the Fifth Settlement branch
The branch is in CMC Medical Mall, 4th floor, North 90th Street, behind the Air Force Specialized Hospital, Fifth Settlement, New Cairo. Hours: Wednesday from 3:30 to 8 pm. The branch offers clinical nutrition, weight management, body contouring and rheumatology.
Al Rehab City is reachable from the branch: the distance is about 11.0 to 11.6 km, around 16 minutes by car. The figures are approximate and change with traffic and the time you leave, so set out a little early on Wednesday. Areas very close to the branch, such as Cairo Festival City, El Yasmeen, Al Narges, El Banafseg and First Settlement, take less time.
To book or ask about the cost, call or send a WhatsApp message to 010 4066 1893, and the team will tell you the cost before you book. Confirm the day and time when you book, because the schedule can change. Tell them you are coming from Rehab so the team can coordinate a suitable time with you.
One last reminder: severe abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or persistent vomiting with dehydration means going to the nearest emergency department immediately, not waiting for Wednesday [10, 11]. When you are ready: Book at the Fifth Settlement branch.
